What is an MMS?

MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. It allows you to send multimedia content, such as pictures, videos, audio, and text to your customer's mobile phones.

MMS vs SMS

Unlike SMS, which is limited to 160 characters per message, MMS allows up to 1530 characters - equivalent to 10 SMS messages. Additionally, MMS is a more cost-effective option, as it only uses 3 credits to send the same amount of content that would typically require multiple SMS messages.

The benefits of MMS

  • Higher engagement - Images capture attention and make messages more visually appealing.

  • More messaging space - MMS removes standard SMS character limits, allowing for more detailed communication.

  • Stronger brand presence - Rich media enhances professionalism and reinforces brand identity.

  • Better campaign performance - Visually engaging messages are more likely to be opened and acted upon.

Personalized MMSs

Mobiz lets you overlay personalized text on your images, dynamically pulling information from your customer data. This means each recipient sees a tailored message, making your MMS more engaging, and attention-grabbing, increasing the likelihood of link clicks.

Sizing and safe zones

Mobiz supports PNG, JPEG, and GIF files. We recommend using JPEG for faster rendering and better compatibility across devices. If you choose PNG, avoid transparency, as it may be replaced with an unintended color on the recipient’s device. To ensure smooth uploads and optimal delivery, keep your file size under 600 KB. Learn how to reduce your file size without changing dimensions here.

As long as your image meets the file size limits, there are no restrictions on dimensions. However, if you edit the image, its dimensions will be resized to a maximum of 1920 px for both length and width.

Top tip: For the best results, use a square image or the closest possible ratio.

For the best viewing experience and to ensure your content is not cut off or covered, follow the safe zones outlined below.

Top tip: Always send yourself a test message before launching your campaign to ensure your MMS looks great and delivers the best experience.
