Understanding Personalization

Personalization is one of the cornerstones of our product and is a powerful tool when creating your campaigns. This feature allows you to include information that is unique to each customer, thus creating a tailored experience and improving your customer relationships.

Adding Default values

Default values are fallbacks should a contact in your audience not have any information in your chosen personalization field(s).

For example, if #{{First name}} is used and a contact has not given their name, you could assign a default value of “guest” or “valued customer”.

This means that your contact with information in the first name field would see “Hi Sarah”, whereas a contact without first name information would see “Hi guest” or “Hi valued customer”.

If you choose to not include a default value and leave the field blank, contacts without the value(s) for that field will not see any fallback value and the area will be left empty.

Top tip: Default values can also be used in Conditional personalization, click to find out how!

Personalization in Mobiz can be included in two stages of the campaign process, namely during the Design stage and SMS stage.

Using personalization in the Design stage

Within this stage, Personalization can be added to Text elements and buttons.

This is done by selecting the element from the Elements area on the left of your screen or by clicking the element in the campaign preview. Then, click the curly brackets { } in the editing area to the right of your campaign preview, and select the personalization tags you would like to use.

Once selected, you will be shown the Default value field, type in your chosen fallback value, and proceed to edit your content or add further personalization tags.

Using personalization in the SMS stage

During the SMS stage of your campaign build, you can easily include personalization in your SMS copy. We suggest adding personalization here as it is the first point of contact your customer will experience and will entice them to click your campaign URL and view the landing page.

To include personalization here, click the curly brackets {} within the Compose SMS area and select the personalization tags you would like to insert.
