Verified toll-free messaging means your business and use case have been reviewed before you send any traffic, and that you've received carrier approval to message US and Canadian numbers over toll-free.
Verification greatly reduces the risk of your messages being filtered across all major US networks and some in Canada — as long as you stick to your stated use case and follow all applicable rules, including the Mobiz Terms of Use. Countries outside the US and Canada don't treat toll-free SMS any differently from other international SMS, so check that country's SMS guidelines page for local compliance considerations.
Why use a toll-free number vs a local number (10DLC)?
The main advantage of a toll-free number is cost — verification is free. It's also well suited to businesses with a multi-region or national presence, which typically benefits larger companies operating across more than one area code, and it helps distinguish national or multi-region businesses from smaller, local ones. Verification is faster too: under 15 days, compared with 15–45 days for 10DLC.

What are the traffic restrictions for unverified and pending-verification TFNs?
Following industry-wide changes, messages from unverified toll-free numbers have been blocked since November 8, 2023 — from that date, any toll-free number must be verified to send traffic. Messages from pending toll-free numbers have been blocked since January 31, 2024, meaning every toll-free number, regardless of use case, must be verified to originate traffic.
